Stretch Limousine vs Stretch SUVs: What’s the Difference?

You’ve probably seen stretch limos and stretch SUVs driving around before, and you’ve probably wondered how the two are different.

Well, this is the post for you! Below, we compare stretch limos and stretch SUVs, highlighting their similarities and differences as well as the factors that often lead consumers to choose one mode of transportation over the other.

Stretch Limousine vs Stretch SUVs

Size

Numerous car manufacturers make limo SUVs. That includes Ford, Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercedes, and Hummer.

The biggest limo is the Ford Excursion, which can seat 14-22 passengers. After that, it’s the Hummer H2 SUV Limo, which can seat 14 to 20 passengers. The Lincoln MKT Limo and Cadillac’s Escalade Limo can both seat 10 passengers. Regular stretch limos, on the other hand, usually seat six to eight passengers.

Although this isn’t always the case, if an SUV limo is on the larger side, it’s probably equipped with more attractive features.

But too much space could make the trip awkward and uncomfortable if there aren’t that many passengers. This is why individuals, couples, and smaller parties tend to choose luxury sedans and regular limos over limo SUVs.

Look & Feel

Stretch limos and stretch SUVs look similar, but there are many obvious differences. While traveling in a stretch limo is a lot like traveling in a stretch SUV, some factors lead many consumers to choose one kind of SUV over the other.

For example, stretch SUVs are more rectangular, and their generally larger cabins make it clear that these limos can accommodate numerous passengers. That said, they don’t look anything like buses and vans. That is why they still boast that unmistakable limousine elegance.

As far as the interior is concerned, both regular and SUV limos have leather seats, ambient lighting, tinted windows, minibars, etc. The seats are arranged similarly as well, but SUVs have more seats since they’re larger.

Type of Event

Some events—like proms and weddings—have long been associated with stretch limousines. This association will probably be widespread for at least a couple more decades. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take a stretch SUV to these and many other events.

The thing is, some people just don’t like the look of SUV limos—they see them as bulky and oddly shaped. Moreover, some brides and grooms don’t like the idea of riding off into the sunset in a massive limo when it’s just the two of them.

But in truth, I’m splitting hairs here. The bottom line is both stretch limos and stretch SUVs are incredibly elegant, so regardless of which you choose, you’ll be pulling up in style.

In addition to being great means of transportation for all kinds of special events, these vehicles are also used often for executive and airport transportation.

Stretch Limo & Stretch SUV Alternatives

If you don’t care all that much about the classic limousine look and you care more about having plenty of space, then consider getting a Mercedes Sprinter van for your party.

And if there are 40-50 members in your party, your best bet is a luxury bus. While these alternatives don’t look like limos, they offer many of the same features, and they’re driven by professional chauffeurs, of course.
