Imperial Limo Worldwide

Why Private Car Service in New York Is a Smart Choice for City Travel

Private car service vehicle

For a day with three or more stops, holding one car beats booking a ride at each one. The fare is rarely the deciding number. What costs you is the twelve minutes lost at every curb, multiplied across the day. Imperial Limo Worldwide runs a professional car service out of Queens, covering New York City, New York, and the counties around it. Much of our weekday work is this exact pattern: one vehicle held for a block of hours. Our chauffeurs clear background screening plus drug and alcohol testing before hire. The rate is flat and confirmed by email before the day starts. Count your stops before you decide, because that number answers the question quickly.

What a Day of City Travel Actually Costs in Time

Distance predicts very little about a New York trip. Two miles across Midtown at five in the afternoon can take half an hour. Fifteen miles up to Westchester at ten in the morning can take less. No pricing model tells you that before you are sitting in the car. A chauffeur who drives these streets daily makes different choices about avenues and timing, while a navigation app works from averages.

The real cost hides in the gaps. Every separate booking adds a wait and a walk to the corner, then a call about which corner, then a short conversation about luggage. Hold one car and those gaps close, along with the low level attention they quietly consume. People who move around the city for work notice that second part most.

Planning helps more than speed does, which is part of what a private car service actually covers. A chauffeur with the full list of addresses can order the stops sensibly. Sending that list the night before is the cheapest thing a rider can do for their own schedule. Most people send the first address and work the rest out as the day goes, which is how an hour disappears. We would rather have the whole shape of the day in front of us before the car leaves the garage.

Point to Point or By the Hour

Two booking structures cover almost every trip. Choosing the wrong one is the most common mistake we see on a first booking.

Booking typeHow it worksWhen it fits
Point to pointOne pickup, one drop-off, quoted as a single flat rateA dinner reservation, a theater night, a single run to an appointment
By the hourThe vehicle and chauffeur stay with you for a set block of hoursMulti-stop days, sightseeing, meetings that run long
Round tripTwo legs booked together, usually with the same chauffeur on bothAn evening out with a known end time, a same-day return

Point-to-point suits a run with a clear start and end. A Brooklyn apartment to a restaurant downtown is the standard example. An hourly limo service suits a day that refuses to resolve neatly, and it protects the most time when meetings overrun. Round trip sits between the two. It works when the return is certain but the exact minute is not.

Not sure whether point-to-point or by the hour fits your day? Give us a call at (929) 331-2898, and we’ll price both and tell you which one we would book ourselves.

What Separates a Reserved Car From an On-Demand Ride

The vehicle is assigned in advance, and that is the practical difference. You know the class of car before the day, and the chauffeur already has the itinerary. Nobody is deciding at the last moment whether your trip is worth accepting. For a short hop to a restaurant that matters very little, and for a six in the morning departure it matters enormously.

Coverage and screening are the other half of it. We carry commercial insurance covering both the passenger and the chauffeur. Every chauffeur is screened and tested before hire rather than after a complaint. Riders rarely ask about either until something goes wrong, and by then the question is academic. Ask any provider what their coverage looks like, and notice how specific the answer is.

What Comes With the Booking

Every vehicle carries a free WiFi hotspot, which turns a slow crosstown into working time instead of lost time. Child car seats come at no charge in forward-facing, rear-facing, rear facing and booster types. The chauffeur fits the right one before pickup, based on the child's age and size. All vehicles are smoke-free, and alcohol is not permitted onboard.

Booking does not require an account. Creating one gives you receipts and trip history in a single place, which matters if the rides get expensed monthly. Each receipt itemizes what was charged and why. Expense questions then get answered from the document rather than from memory, which is worth more than it sounds in a busy finance week.

When Holding a Car Is the Wrong Call

A single short hop with no schedule attached does not need a reserved chauffeur, and we will tell you so. Someone heading six blocks with no bag and no deadline is better served by whatever is nearest. The value of a held car comes from the schedule it protects. With no schedule, there is nothing to protect.

Long empty gaps are the other case. Booking a car to sit from ten until nine costs more than it should when the middle six hours are dead. Two point-to-point trips price better there, which is part of when hourly booking makes the most sense. We would rather structure it that way and keep the account. Quoting the larger number once tends to end the relationship there.

Send us a typical day of stops. Call (929) 331-2898 or email info@ilimoww.com, and we’ll come back with the structure, the vehicle, and a flat rate for a working day in New York City.
